I'm always down for a book that riffs off the Bachelor franchise because I find it both equally enthralling and appalling. But The Charm Offensive took a simple re-hash/peek behind the scenes romance novel to the next level and blew me away. Cochrun charms you with delightful metaphors, characters that you can't help but root for, and all the while she's creating a beautiful love story that will ruin you for all following romances. If my little review hasn't convinced you yet... GO PUT IT ON HOLD! IT'S AMAZING!

This book is amazing. Christian Robinson's beautifully rendered illustrations are paired with the poignant and powerful words of Traci Todd. Together they create a book that sings. Nina Simone's life is rendered in such straightforward care, that you can't help but be pulled in. Kids will find this biography memorable and will make them feel like they met an American icon in a truly iconic read.

If you can't already tell from the medals adorning the cover, All Thirteen is a masterpiece of children's non-fiction. I was captivated from page one and read this entire book in one sitting. Soontornvat does an excellent job of building tension and encapsulating all the planning and time constraints the rescue team was put under to rescue 12 boys and their coach from a perilous trap 1.5 miles beneath the earth's surface. It is a riveting read for kids but will also pull in adults who want to know what happened to all thirteen.

The Hobbit is one of my favorite books from childhood and still remains one of my favorites after many re-reads as an adult. It's got everything you need in a fantasy book: adventure, dragons, a mysterious treasure, and age-old divides between humans, dwarves, men, goblins and elves (plus one hobbit). Tolkien wrote this story for his kids and it has just enough magic to enchant any child and more than enough sophistication to please any adult wanting to indulge in a classic fantasy tale. It makes a great family read aloud or the perfect companion to a cozy reading session on a fall day. Make sure you prepare snacks and enough time to devour a truly fantastic classic.

This book is a wild ride. I was not prepared to love it as much as I did. The one downside is that there is a LOT of plot dump. You are dropped into the middle of this world and there is just a boat load of exposition, so if you don't love that, you are going to be bogged down in this book and might not make it past the first 50 pages. If you are in love with a heroine who's ready to fight the system while evading a bunch of murder monsters and doing a bunch of crazy spell work, this book is going to hit all of those spots. It's like Hunger Games + Harry Potter + Red Rising got put in a blender and then strained out all of the terrible things about those series and added some seriously scary monsters and overblown world building. It's creepy and messed up and totally enthralling. Is it dense? Yes. Does it feel pretty YA? Yup. Will you have trouble putting it down? DEFINITELY!

It is an undisputed fact that farts are funny. Do you have a toddler or baby that needs to laugh a LOT? Look no farther. This book is full of toots! Patricelli's illustrations are simple yet convey so much joy. You'll soon be able to recite the whole book from memory-- that's how much your young reader will enjoy this book full of farts!

I love a good rhyme and while the message of this text is perfect for a storytime about families, the pictures are so dense and intricate they are better suited to a one-on-one read aloud experience. The readers can follow different families through good times and bad through happy and sad in comic style panels on each page. While this book illustrates how families can look different, it circles back to a truism we all know: love is love. Beautiful and timeless. Get it, read it, and enjoy it with your family!

Covering the theory of Evolution with pre-K kids can be daunting, but it turns out that if you add some whimsical animals and rhymes that echo the ever-favorite Dr. Seuss, you can talk about Evolution in a quick, cute read. Definitely simplified, Emmet and Dolan weave together science, rollicking rhymes, and cute, quirky critters to create a great introduction to this very complicated topic. Science lovers and lovers of whimsy unite in this adorable read!

As a librarian, I can totally relate to Albert's quiet quest. I'm also a sucker for some great water color illustrations and Isabelle Arsenault delivers on both quest and a beautiful book. If you've got a quieter book lover in your life, Albert's Quiet Quest will speak to their quiet-loving soul. Enjoy the quiet (even with friends)!

I am a huge fan of Jan Thomas' picture books and the fact that she's decided to bring her bold illustrations, hilarious characters, and over all fun to the Easy Reader section just brightens my day. If you've read all the Piggie and Elephant and you're looking for a new set of comical reads for your learning-to-reader then Jan Thomas' books are for you!

Magical realism for kids at its best. Grisha and Maggie have an unusual friendship and together they explore the beautiful city of Vienna all the while completing a quest to find missing dragons. This book is beautifully written and will have readers wishing to see a dragon of their very own. Not only is this book enchanting, but it leaves you questioning the price of magic and if you are ready to pay it.

If you want to get extra hyped to start your National Park adventure, you need to check out this book. With dreamy illustrations, descriptions and maps of all the parks plus all of the wildlife you might encounter at each one, this book is a must have for all National Park fans. On top of that IT HAS AN INDEX!!! Need to know what page Mesa Verde is on, flip to the back and it will give you the deets. So find a warm blanket and the perfect spot on the couch and get ready to explore our beautiful national parks from the coziness of your own home. And who knows? It might inspire your next great adventure.

Its rhyme scheme is worthy of Dr Seuss for earworm-iness. This is a book you and your kiddo will read again and again and again.

As a closeted foodie, I absolutely loved this book. Gladys Gatsby loves food and baking. The only catch? Her parents are fast-food junkies! When she gets caught cooking and banned from her favorite past-time, Gladys goes to great lengths to pursue her dream of becoming a restaurant critic. Thoroughly entertaining with a touch of the surreal, Dairman's writing rings of Roald Dahl with a splash of Ruth Reichl, restaurant critic and food writer. It's too delicious to put down. Do not read this book when hungry!

I LOVE A GOOD NONTRADITIONAL FAIRY TALE! Prince and Knight does not disappoint. Beautiful illustrations accompany a story that lets an adorable love story shine. The rhymes seem somewhat forced at times, but it's hard not to fall in love with such a cute fairy tale. It's never to early to introduce children to diversity of all shapes and kinds!

Dreamy and absolutely gorgeous. The Tea Dragon Society is perfect for fans of fantasy who love to be swept away by beautiful artwork. Seriously, I cannot gush about how beautiful this book is. Our main character Greta saves a small dragon on her way home, but little does she know it’s a tea dragon, a rare breed that lives for thousands of years. Greta learns about dragons, makes new friends and finds her place in the world. Seriously cute and wonderfully delightful. I highly recommend it!
