RetroActive Field Trip: Hike and Picnic at Lexington Lake
Let's Celebrate Earth Day! Pack a sack lunch and join us for a 1.6 mile paved sidewalk hike around Lexington Lake, a 27 acre lake just west of DeSoto and north of K-10 highway. Lexington Lake Park is a 465 acre park featuring virgin prairie, 120 prairie plant species (including federally protected Mead's Milkweed), oak and hickory forest, and tallgrass prairie. We'll meet in the parking lot near the shelter house, enjoy a leisurely hike, and then enjoy our lunches -- the library will furnish the drinks! The site also features a playground, kayak rentals, a disc golf course, and 9 miles of mountain bike/hiking trails.
If hiking's not your thing, come anyway to enjoy the lake, some time away, and celebrate being together on this beautiful Earth. See you there!
