We’ll begin at the Medicine Wheel Earthwork south of the Haskell Campus buildings with a special land recognition with Dr. Daniel Wildcat, a Yuchi member of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma.

Authors & Artists include:

  • Alex Kimball Williams, Aleut, Author and Artist
  • Summer Powell, Diné, Author and Artist
  • Mona Cliff, Aaniiih/Nakota Nations, Gros Ventre Tribe, Artist
  • Ian Cook, Author and Artist
  • Annette Hope Billings, Author
  • Diane Silver, Author

Lawrence Public Library is partnering with Haskell Indian Nations University and Raven Book Store to offer this celebration of the wetlands.

We'll be outside, consider bringing a refillable water bottle (reduce single-use plastic) and lawn chair or blanket.

Kids are welcome, although no specific kid-friendly activities are planned.

Plan to arrive 15-30 minutes early to allow time to walk from the road to the Medicine Wheel.

A Land rover will be available for mobility assistance over the uneven ground.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be held April 25.
