Meet Nelly Don: The CoCo Chanel of Kansas

on March 25, 2025, 2:00pm to 3:00pm

Event description

In partnership with Humanities Kansas and Lawrence Parks and Rec, we present this program about famous KC fashion designer, Nelly Don. Founded in 1916 by 17-year-old Nell Quinlan Donnely, Nelly Don grew to become the largest manufacturer of women's clothing worldwide. Marla Day, curator of Kansas State University's Historic Costume and Textile Museum, will present Nell's inspiring story, and we'll have a fun 50's fashion show as well. BONUS! Lawrence Parks and Rec offers a filed trip to KSU's Costume and Textile Museum on April 12. Details available at the presentation.
