I LOVED this book. It bridges that gap between “early chapter books” and a more typical middle grade novel. This book has everything I need and want out of a great book: an excellent plot, immersion in place, well thought out and vibrant characters plus a lot of quirk and whimsy to deliver a very real and thoughtful message. I wanted to linger in Magnolia’s world. This book will delight the actual audience it was intended for: children, while also making adults fall in love with it along the way.
