An Elena Standish Novel

I have read every William Monk and Thomas Pitt detective novel, so I was interested to see that Ms. Perry is introducing a new myatery series character after 40 years. I believe I am going to like Elena Standish, but was a bit disappointed not to know her better after this first mystery. I need to be patient since when introducing an new protagonist, there are so many other associated family / friends that need to be included, you are coping with keeping all the new names straight while following the mystery. I find the time setting to be appealing. It is 1933 and involves the rising threat of Hitler and the desire of England to avoid another war at all cost. I am very insterested in WWII so this is a plus for me. My one complaint about the book is that there were at least one too many twists / story plots for one mystery. I would have preferred a little less action and more character development. I will, however, definitely read the next book. Ms. Perry is a superb and prolific mystery author. I highly recommend all of her series. Kristi & Abby Tabby
