As action movies go the action does move at a good pace. But therein lies my complaint. The action overrides the reason for the action. Sure the bad guys kill McCall's friend but the reason why they kill her is unclear. The environment of the climax was reminiscent of the climax of Patriot Games. Maybe this is so because Mace Neufeld was involved in both productions. It does seem a trifle contrived. Some of the best non-action scenes take place in the backseat of McCall's Lyft car. The idea of personal vengeance for McCall was not a big part of the original TV series. He was always seeking justice for the underdog and victimized. I would hope the producers go back that idea because it was impersonal business McCall would blindside the tormentors.
