India Desjardins once met a young girl who had cancer. The girl, tired of reading books about cancer that are all so sad, asked for a story with love, hope, and a happy ending. This book delivers all on all fronts without compromising the hard themes of dealing with sickness, and hurting loved-ones. Desjardins' characters have surprising depth as the girl and her family travel toward her final prognosis in this short graphic novel. It was sappy, cute, sad, and hard to read, but I believe had a good balance from theme to theme without being either too fluffy, or too dark. I would recommend this to anyone who has dealt with chronic illness, personally or through a loved one. A beautiful reminder that, no matter the circumstances, you can still have a happy ending.
