The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is the best book I’ve read in a long time. It is the gay Victorian road trip novel you didn’t even know you needed. It is sweet and clever, but also touches on real issues, such as gay relationships in Victorian times, women’s place in Victorian society, racial issues and racism in Victorian society, and the stigma surrounding disabilities during that time. This story contains a cast of lovable characters that are all thoroughly fleshed out. Each character has a motive that is evident through their actions throughout the course of the book. I finished this book hungry for more, which was good because the sequel, The Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy, had just come out. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good story. 5/5 - @nickreads of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
