"The Faceless Ghost and Other Macabre Tales from Japan" is a collection of short, spooky stories from the history of Japan. This is a quick, excellent read for those interested in other cultures, and the way their religions and societies shape their stories. Lafcadio Hearn, famous author, Japanophile, and original collector of these stories, was given an honorary Japanese name because of his adherence to Japanese cultures and traditions in his writing. Now, over a century later, some of these stories have been collected and illustrated in this Graphic Novel. Michiru Morikawa brings mixes her unique style with traditional Japanese art to bring the stories to life on the page. I would recommend this to readers of all ages, though I could see this being a huge hit with a younger crowd!
