A story about a Mama Beaver and her son Buckley, who live in a cozy cabin by the ocean. I like the part that says: They didn't have much but they always had each other. Buckley loves to carve boats using driftwood -- big boats, long boats, short boats & tall boats, each one more beautiful than the last. He sends off very best boats on the ocean tide to a place where his father can hopefully reach them. It paints a gentle picture of loss, dealing with grief & moving on. The twist in the story is a tearjerker that I had to stifle my tears while reading it to my kids last. The mama’s tender love really is the best part. The ending adds a bit of a sting. Overall, it’s a lovely picture book!
