Fantastically shot, directed and edited doc about the genius that brought us Fritz the Cat, cover of Cheap Thrills (Janis Joplin), Weirdo and much more. Extremely eccentric but the most "normal" and adjusted of his whole family. The doc spends a lot of time, as it should, on his talented but more disturbed brother. You end up pining for more footage of his mother whom his brother lived with as they say was originally against being filmed but eventually became comfortable with the camera which they state in the doc, but likely for focal reasons only used one clip. Excellent and relevant footage of him and his brother. Interesting to see how Robert deals with his nervousness regarding the dysfunction and his discomfort through humor / making light of their father's abuse and other topics. A well produced documentary on an important contributor to American underground pop culture.
