Just fantastic. I began to read it several months before I got past the first page, and I confess, initially, I wouldn't have believed my reaction by the end. It is very dull at first--the analytical writing style did very little for the general interest. By the time one's eyes pass the words, "That beast is made of sheet-iron" the book exponentially picks up. Verne did his research, and it is interspersed with the most amazing digressions about marine fauna and flora. . . Which do drag the story, but the weave of pathos, wonder, and adventure makes it unforgettable.
