This is another great addition to the new Star Wars canon and adds another piece to the puzzle of what happened between Endor and Starkiller Base. However, it's not without its faults. The pace of the book was somewhat uneven, with a fairly slow start, a middle that gradually widened a web, which then all came crashing down very quickly in a rushed end. It's really too bad. It's also the first time we get an in-depth look at the role of Hosnian Prime, and the new Republic - I just can't believe that they'd just complacently reform the Republic just like that, and in basically the same dysfunctional format it was in before the Clone Wars. Based on what little we saw in TFA, I was hoping for a more fractured galaxy. Too bad again. But these are nitpicks. This is a great dive into the life of Leia, and who she was between blowing up the shield generator on Endor, and becoming the leader of the Resistance. She fits the role the book puts her in perfectly. This is a perfect story of Leia. And as an added bonus, we get some significant tie-ins and set-ups for The Force Awakens. Not quite as much of a masterpiece as Lost Stars, but still better than the rest of the current canon books... to date (big expectations for THRAWN in 17).
