if you strip the film bare, you get this. husband goes overseas , visits a poor country, screws with a local prostitute and comes back home to wife, child and rich life. this film is reality, it happens every day. globalisation and westerners continue to rape the world. essentially you can see how diseases and AIDS are spread. i actually thought the family man was going to come home with AIDS and give his wife the disease. Though it didnt go that way, but it could've easily...this film isnt about acting or being entertaining...it''s REAL life.

I had seen the trailer to this movie and thought it was more of a "husband-cheats-on-wife" story, but found it to be a "husband-finding-himself-while-thousands-of-miles-away-from-his-family" movie. This movie felt drawn out and slow moving. I found this movie to be a waste of time.

The acting was really great, Gael Garcia Bernal and Michelle Williams were great, as were the little girl that played their daughter and their nanny, Gloria. The script was cheesy at points and I did not care for the score at all: it was techo sort of music. But the closing song by Cat Power, "The Greatest" was awesome. Overall, I would see it for the acting only. The story was just ok and not very realistic.
