They were sent to the south desert of Arizona to find and arrest an old outlaw named Peter Harkness. It was rumored that he lived in Parral, a town that differed from most of the desert area around it inasmuch as it had a terrific water source - a boon in the desert.

Charley and Hank rode into Parral on a dark night. They were hungry and tired and had their badges concealed in their pockets. They didn't want any trouble. In fact, they weren't sure what they'd find. Pete Harkness hadn't committed a reported robbery - or any other crime - in at least fifteen years. They found Pete, all right. And when people heard who they were looking for, they found plenty of trouble too...
