New York Times best-selling author Tana French has won the prestigious Edgar, Barry, Macavity, and Anthony awards. As her third novel featuring the Dublin Murder Squad opens, 19-year-old Frank Mackey is waiting in vain for Rosie, who he¿s supposed to run away to London with. But when she doesn't show, Frank leaves Dublin without her-thinking never to return. Years later, though, Rosie's suitcase is found in an abandoned house, and Frank, now a detective, returns to his old neighborhood to learn the truth of that long-ago night.

I loved this book ---- plus it had some very funny comments that made me laugh out loud --- very unique in a murder mystery.

Definitely the flavor of Dublin and the time period it takes place in. The Mackey family has nothing nice to say to each other - this got a little tiresome I found. I found petty squabbles and arguments from all family members hard to take and was not all necessary to the story. However glad I stuck it out to the end - not sure I want to read any more from this author. Found it too long and would have preferred some more editing.

An ambitious conceit with uneven execution. Some overwritten dialog (on and on), especially between Frank and daughter. But as always, French captures the idiom of all the Dublin flavors. That in itself makes it worth the read.

Another great book that's an even better audiobook from Tana French. Loved getting the back story on Frank Mackey along with a new murder mystery set in Dublin.

WOW, I really liked this. The audiobook is read in an authentic Irish accent, and really made the book easy to follow. The details of life in Dublin, and the twists in the tale, were excellent. Her descriptions are brilliant and very accurate.
This is the first I've read by Tana French, but I have now read two more by her, and I think this is the best of them. However, try to read them in order if you can, as it helps to establish the characters properly.
