In this story, Jake "a new big brother" explains his feelings of being left out and forgotten when his baby sister Abby arrives. He experiences the typical confusion and mixed emotions that result in having to share his parents with a new and demanding sibling. But with wit and a resourceful nature, Jake explores his new role and achieves the confidence to embrace his little sister. Ultimately, the story demonstrates how kids can feel warm, safe, and loved in their family as they move from being a beloved only child to occupying a new and exciting role as the older sibling.

I checked out this book for the little boy that I nanny for. He's 2.5 and his mom is expecting a baby in just a couple of months. He LOVED this book. Jake, the big brother in the book, is such a sweet example of an older brother. The parents, and Jake, in the book exhibit great attitudes about having the new baby and the changes that are happening in the family. It was exactly the kind of thing we wanted him to learn about. Jake shows how being patient, helping, listening, speaking sweet words of comfort and encouragement to his new sister and keeping a great attitude are important and his parents model how those things are valued. Such a great book to help prepare and encourage a child when a new baby is coming,
