The writer of the library journal should be informed enough to know the author is a woman. Should not be allowed an opinion if this "critic" is that unaware. It says to me the book probably wasn't actually read either, at best skimmed, at worst... who knows. I will leave the guessing to the professionals.

I read this book despite the horrible writing. I discovered that I cared about the characters once I could wade through all the unnecessary prose. The plot was actually pretty good, but the long syllogistic side stories about everything that happened made it almost unbearable to read for me. Rather than letting the story tell itself through the characters actions, the author chose to explain everything at length to the reader. I'll give this author one more book, but if it is the same I won't read anymore.
