The Gold Diggers are heading for Paris, bringing their feathers, frills, New York tawk -- and ballet shoes! A French diplomat has mistaken 43rd Street's Club Ballé for the American Academy Ballet, and the chorus cuties aren't going to turn down a free trip to the City of Light over such a tiny misunderstanding.

GREAT 1938 film - this was the fifth and last of the Warner Bros. Gold Diggers films - but the first I have so far seen. I think it's great. Apparently some people think it's weaker than the earlier ones; I will be watching Gold Diggers in 1935 soon so I have high expectations.
Gold Diggers in Paris was remade (with some changes) as 1952's 'April in Paris' starring Doris Day - another great film I enthusiastically recommend your checking out the KCLS copy.
Gold Diggers in Paris has some terrific Busby Berkeley dance sequences (especially the film end sequence which includes a costumed chorus line of 30 ladies dancing it up) intertwined into the plot. Enjoyable performances by Rudy Vallee at age 35 (I hadn't seen him acting before) and Rosemary Lane (new to me) at age 25. Gloria Dickson at age 21 in Mona role fills out the primary cast.
I did enjoy the bit whack Mabel Todd in her ventriloquist role along with Von Whimple the dog (who is in the fun final scene).
The six musician Schnickelfritz Band added some fun schtick during film (like the Colonel Corn tune).
Overall, this was some of the most fun film watching I have had lately; and I have been exploring older films I've missed nightly for some time.
