Perfect for fans of Lord of the Rings, the New York Times bestselling Inheritance Cycle about the dragon rider Eragon has sold over 35 million copies and is an international fantasy sensation.

Oaths sworn . . . loyalties tested . . . forces collide.

Following the colossal battle against the Empire's warriors on the Burning Plains, Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, have narrowly escaped with their lives. Still there is more at hand for the Rider and his dragon, as Eragon finds himself bound by a tangle of promises he may not be able to keep.

First is Eragon's oath to his cousin Roran: to help rescue Roran's beloved, Katrina, from King Galbatorix's clutches. But Eragon owes his loyalty to others, too. The Varden are in desperate need of his talents and strength--as are the elves and dwarves. When unrest claims the rebels and danger strikes from every corner, Eragon must make choices-- choices that take him across the Empire and beyond, choices that may lead to unimagined sacrifice.

Eragon is the greatest hope to rid the land of tyranny. Can this once-simple farm boy unite the rebel forces and defeat the king?

This third series of Christopher Paolini work of the "Eragon" books prove to be more amazing than ever. I enjoy hearing Gerard Doyle read and always enjoy how he portrays the characters of the story. It makes me sad to know that the adventure will come to end when I start the final book "Inheritance". Listening these long tapes/CD(s) is worth your time especially if you love fantasy, dragons, and adventures. In the end of the story there's a bonus track where you get to know more about Christopher Paolini and what are his personal views of the story. After hearing the interview between Christopher and his editor you get to fall deeper in love with the story and appreciate the work that this young author has place.

The reader has a very good voice.

Brisingr is a good read and the audio book is once again a great thing for long car trips but the I found that the reader couldn't get the voices or the tones right.

Over all a good story, for the third book in the series, but Saphira's voice might give you a scare.

Tons of fun and continues along with precision from the plotline and character developments of Eldest and Eragon. Gerard's interpretations and voices of the characters is almost to a tee. It did surprise me when Saphira's voice was gravely. I hadn't thought of it that way.
