An Acceptable Time , the final book in Madeleine L'Engle's Time Quintet, the series that began with the Newbery Award winner A Wrinkle in Time

A flash of lightning, quivering ground, and, instead of her grandparents' farm, Polly sees mist and jagged mountains -- and coming toward her, a group of young men carrying spears.

Why has a time gate opened and dropped Polly into a world that existed 3,000 years ago? Will she be able to get back to the present before the time gate closes -- and leaves her to face a group of people who believe in human sacrifice?

I agree with chibiberry. The rest of the series was much better and this one took extremely long to get into. Also, I did not like Zachary at all and I didn't see why they so easily forgave him, he deserved different. Not really worth time reading, in my opinion

Having read the rest of the "time" quintet, this book was a serious disappointment.
The first 200 pages was just endless talking over the same things. And the fact that Mr. Murray, the guy who invented the tesserect technology, refused to believe that Polly could be tesserecting herself, was simply preposterous.
