I watched this last night for the first time in probably 20 years. I only cried 55 times.

Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) sits on a bus stop bench recounting his incredible life story. Winner of six Academy Awards.

This is a great old movie we've watched several times. Although it makes me sad thinking of all those tens of thousands of boys sent to Vietnam to kill and die. Forrest is a hero on so many levels in this film which is light hearted, touching and has a good ending; great cinemaphotography!

Tom Hanks does a wonderful job in the title role and this movie has it all; drama, hilariousness, and touching scenes that will make you cry. The music is awesome as well and I really enjoyed Gary Sinese as Lt. Dan and Robin Wright as Jenny.

🌽⚾️ Vastly overrated, this treacly claptrap mainly reworks the ideas from Woody Allen's brilliant "Zelig" into a 140-minute tearjerker with an oldies soundtrack. Schmaltz never goes out of style.

The extras on disc 2 are worth watching to see how they did the amazing special effects - almost 25 years ago!

GREAT 1994 film - glad I've finally seen it - and glad I stuck with it after what was for me a slow beginning. The second half really captured me as the film's rendering of the literary abstract ideas developed. Tom Hanks did a fine job in this bit unusual acting role. And fun to see Sally Field at age 48 at Forrest's mom - they did do a bit of aging on her not so old look.
The film's production staff really pulled this off in SO many categories.
Lots of fine arty aspects throughout - and beginning (and ending) with those excellent 'feather in the sky' scenes.

Forrest Gump: You died on a Saturday morning. And I had you placed here under our tree. And I had that house of your father's bulldozed to the ground. Momma always said dyin' was a part of life. I sure wish it wasn't. Little Forrest, he's doing just fine. About to start school again soon. I make his breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. I make sure he combs his hair and brushes his teeth every day. Teaching him how to play ping-pong. He's really good. We fish a lot. And every night, we read a book. He's so smart, Jenny. You'd be so proud of him. I am. He, uh, wrote a letter, and he says I can't read it. I'm not supposed to, so I'll just leave it here for you. Jenny, I don't know if Momma was right or if, if it's Lieutenant Dan. I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze, but I, I think maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time. I miss you, Jenny. If there's anything you need, I won't be far away.

Drill Sergeant: Gump! What's your sole purpose in this army?
Forrest Gump: To do whatever you tell me, drill sergeant!
Drill Sergeant: God damn it, Gump! You're a god damn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a goddamn I.Q. of 160. You are goddamn gifted, Private Gump. Listen up, people...
Forrest Gump: [narrates] Now for some reason I fit in the army like one of them round pegs. It's not really hard. You just make your bed real neat and remember to stand up straight and always answer every question with "Yes, drill sergeant."
Drill Sergeant: ...Is that clear?
Forrest Gump: Yes, drill sergeant!

Best movie ever!! (in my opinion) So Forrest Gump gets bullied as a kid because he can't run and he wears braces on his legs, eventually the same people who bullied him, bullies him when he's grow up and he starts to run away and the braces come off his legs and he can run!! Forrest has a love who he has loved since he was a child that person is Jenny but Jenny doesn't love him back she'd rather live on the edge. Forrest plays football in college which leads to him eventually joing the army there he meets Bubba and Bubba loves shrimp! And this whole story is told from Forrests persepective as he waits to go on the bus to meet...Jenny!!...and Jenny has a certain suprise for him but it is a good movie :)

There is a boy named forest and he has a friend whose a girl. Then he's on a football team and well he surely does run like the wind. He gets bullied by these 3 boys in a car and well he starts running. Then the braces on his feet come off. They get even older and then there sum love scenes and she becomes a singer and then she leaves him which i think is very sad. :( but still also a good movie:)

Forrest Gump, while not intelligent, has accidentally been present at many historic moments, but his true love, Jenny, eludes him.
