Little Hoot is upset that he has to stay up and play when all his friends get to go to bed. His parents try to get him to stay awake by giving him glasses of water and making him play. Finally, Little Hoot is allowed to go to bed. His parents call wait don't you want a story? But, it is too late, Little Hoot is already asleep.
