Sam is only friends with boys. Boys are strong and tough--girls aren't. But when Ellie joins Sam's class and he's forced to get to know her, he finds out that her parents may be getting a divorce. Then Sam sees just how strong and tough a girl can be, and he makes his first real friend.
Readers will relate to Sam's feelings--and his change of heart--and the bold colors, engaging animal characters, and gentle humor are perfectly suited to the preschool audience.

Disappointed! Really wish this book noted the topic of divorce on the cover. This was not something I wanted to discuss with my 1 & 4 year olds! Also, the gender discrimination addressed is a completely different topic and something this age demographic typically has no issue with. This book is not age appropriate!

Sam has a new friend called Ellie. I like the way Sam treated Ellie, even though she was girl. A great story!

Daniel decided this is the best book and story he read among his summer reading list. He loved the story because the way Sam treated Ellie, his new friend. He asked me to borrow other Sam series books for him.
