Roald Dahl – Going Solo

Wow! The best description of the life of a fighter pilot in WWII I have read.

Gives a terrific sense of how an ordinary but very observant lad quickly grows up into a competent but not very well trained pilot who is asked to do impossible tasks in a time of real crises.

The descriptions of what he is going through are very compelling and understated.
