A summer wedding stirs up trouble on both sides of the family in this beloved bestseller from "the queen of the summer novel" (People). The Carmichaels and the Grahams have gathered on Nantucket for a happy occasion: a wedding that will unite their two families. Plans are being made according to the wishes of the bride's late mother, who left behind The Notebook: specific instructions for every detail of her youngest daughter's future nuptials. Everything should be falling into place for the beautiful event — but in reality, things are falling apart. While the couple-to-be are quite happy, their loved ones find their lives crumbling. In the days leading up to the wedding, love will be questioned, scandals will arise, and hearts will be broken and healed. Skipped many pages in this book following the notebook totally was ridiculous and some of the situations were similar to other books by this author.

Family drama around a three-day summer wedding being held on beautiful Nantucket island. All you need to know is it's an Elin Hilderbrand novel. There will be many characters - both young and older, lots of angst, secrets and emotions, with people trying to manipulate each other. But the main thing is it will all come together and all you have to do is read - because Hilderbrand has written another enjoyable beach read that is worth investing your time. And now I'm going to find another Hilderbrand novel, because sometimes you just want something that makes you feel good when you turn the last page.

I absolutely loved this book! It was the first I'd read by this author but in two years now I've read everything I could get my hands on by her and only disliked two. This one started it all!

Normally I find Hilderbrand's novels a nice escape, but this book was just annoying - that controlling notebook irked me to no end. What adult child would slavishly obey her mother's every command? And, more importantly, what kind of loving mother would inflict such specific instructions on her child?

I would consider this to be the perfect summer beach read. The setting is Nantucket Island. There is an impending wedding, with the details dictated by the diary of the bride's dead mother. Family secrets and wedding drama ensues. The story was hilarious and heartfelt. Made me want to take a trip to Nantucket.

This was my first introduction to Elin Hilderbrand and I loved it. I have since read Summerland and Matchmaker, and of the three, I definitely enjoyed Beautiful Day the best.

The book was okay – but not one of my favorites.

What is with these phrases in 2013???

"wild Indians" and "Indian Giver".

I would hope the author knows better but guess not.
