An alien abduction has left behind only those younger than sixteen, older than sixty-five, or too "disabled" to work. In other words, people who weren't a threat--until now. Twins Sam and Wyatt are ready to chuck their labels, break free from their captors, and inspire others to do the same. It's time for "the last picked" to step into the game.Jason Walz pairs vivid world-building and a fast-paced adventure in a beautiful story of sibling devotion. With humor and action, Last Pick shares an empowering message about the dangers of labeling and writing people off.

Aliens have invaded Earth, taking any humans aged 16-65 years old they feel are "normal". Earth is overrun by all different kinds of extraterrestrials, some extremely dangerous and others content with watching human TV all day long. Aliens now run the stores, towns, and law enforcement. The main characters are fraternal twins, Sam and Wyatt. Though the author never states it plainly, Wyatt seems to be on the autism spectrum and Sam is doing her best to forage for food and electronics. She takes the big risks while Wyatt helps protect her remotely with his knowledge of the alien species and habits. Wyatt is also a technology whiz and is hacking the alien tech to build a locating device to discover where the aliens have taken their parents. This story is packed with love and a deeper conversation about what makes people view others as "disabled" and how assigning labels blocks others from seeing what a person really has to offer. This action packed sci-fi graphic novel is the series opener so there's plenty more aliens, technology, and siblings adventures to be had.
