OUTSTANDING 1943 Hollywood musical made during WWII. I now realize that one of the keys to enjoying this kind of entertainment is to do a complete suspension of belief/expectations, let the film do its thing, and go along for the ride.
Lots of terrific stage/dance scenes.
Carmen Miranda is over the top (as usual) in 'Lady in the Tutti Frutti Hat' and her fun use of her flavor of English, i.e., 'donkey dory', 'scratching my heart', 'ketchup from a Brazilian tomato', and more.
Charlotte Greenwood was terrific as Mrs. Potter and did some of her fab head high leg kicks.
Beautiful Alice Faye was great, don't think I've ever seen (or can remember) seeing Phil Baker before who has lead male role. Sheila Ryan was fun to look at/watch as Vivian Potter.
The film was made during WWII and the ending is set at a War Bond Garden Party. The film did/does have a buy War Bonds on screen at end.
High marks to both Busby Berkeley and Benny Goodman for their contributions to this outstanding film. Berkeley's integration of state of the art film camera work into dance sequences is superb.
I'm having a great time discovering these films from before I was born - thanks, KCLS.

"save this film from being awful" -- Nonsense!! The Gang's All Here is an audacious masterpiece, both of its time and way ahead, too. A giddy blend of anarchy & sentiment.

Benny Goodman's music and Busby Berkeley's spectacular choreography save this film from being awful.
