This film is based on the Cole Porter Broadway musical 'The Gay Divorce'. They changed the name and cut all but one of the songs, huh? It seems unheard of today that a Cole Porter score would be essentially deleted but that was how they did things back in the day. Astaire also reprises his role he created on stage. It's enjoyable enough and the dances are as opulent and lush as any other Rogers and Astaire movie though their dancing time on screen is minimal. It's also noteworthy that a 17 year old Betty Grable gets to shine in the 'Lets K-nock K-nees' number, apparently there was tension on the set between Ginger and Betty, hmm. Very entertaining.

A delightful movie, well put together, funny, with great acting. Includes the most sensuous and skilled dance performance I've ever seen: Night and Day.
