We all know nothing rhymes with orange. But how does that make Orange feel? Well, left out! When a parade of fruit gets together to sing a song about how wonderful they are-and the song happens to rhyme-Orange can't help but feel like it's impossible for him to ever fit in. But when one particularly intuitive Apple notices how Orange is feeling, the entire English language begins to become a bit more inclusive. Beloved author-illustrator Adam Rex has created a hilarious yet poignant parable about feeling left out, celebrating difference, and the irrefutable fact that nothing rhymes with orange.

Cute and clever -- I like Orange's side comments. A good read aloud for an introduction to rhyme in writing. The theme of inclusion is touched on at the end.

Nothing rhymes with Orange! Poor Orange feels left out and mopes about as the other fruit parade around singing their verses—“Sigh. I’m just gonna hang out on the next page.” The other fruit, “feeling rotten, ‘cause there’s someone they’ve forgotten” come up with a rhyme to ensure Orange feels involved in the fun: “It’s the orange. He’s really smorange. There’s no one quite as smorange as orange…totally awesome in every way.” A smart and silly read-aloud that underscores the importance of inclusion.

Laugh out loud with Adam Rex. He certainly has a way with words. What can YOU rhyme with orange? Have fun reading this book with your kids or grandkids.

Poor Orange! This beautifully, illustrated poetry book finds rhymes for lychee and kiwi but the apple finally comes up with a rhyme for orange.
Great lessons through simple rhymes about fruit and nutrition. There is one very important topic about how the orange feels it does not belong and is different.
Cute techniques of story telling that adults will enjoy!
