In July 2004, Barack Obama electrified the Democratic National Convention with an address that spoke to Americans across the political spectrum. One phrase in particular anchoered itself in listeners' minds, a reminder that for all the discord and struggle to be found in US history, the people have always been guided by a dogged optimism in the future, or what Senetor Obama called the audacity of hope.' In this book Obama calls for a different brand of politics - a politics free from the fear of losing, raising money and the media. A politics for the future.'

Add a CommentI read this before the first election. He tries really hard to make himself out to be a centrist.
This is a great book if you enjoy learning about politics and history. Barack is a very gifted writer and his passion and education clearly show throughout the book. This is less a biography of him, and more a stance on his passionate views on the future of this nation. The biggest takeaway from this book for me was just how well-balanced he was as a senator and eventually President.
This is one of my favorite presidents so I had to read this and its really good he goes into what he knows and believes. Barack Obama is a logical man.
Only an idiot can say they didn't read a word from the book yet they hate it
A very good read. I enjoyed this book I would recommend this book for all to read.
Obama is a puppet and nothing else. Obama should be in the dictionary under rhetoric.
A great to learn about Obama's perspective various topics such as economy, family, race etc. Not a biography but glimpse of his life tells us how he became what he is today. Interesting if you are into politics.
