This film is about what it was like to be gay in a small rural community where everyone wants to know your business. The story centers around an accomplished NYC artist who goes back home, a small rural town, after his grandfather who raised him has a stroke, about him trying to take care of his granddad and, about the artist trying to reignite a teenage crush with his old high school best friend. The film is about being gay back when people never really came out of the closet or never really told their parents they were gay for fear of reprisal. The small close-knit community is surprisingly open and welcoming to him. The main message of the film is to never be ashamed of who you are. It is also about the importance of becoming aware of all of the love and support that family and friends can give.
It is also about how love makes us want to be a better person.

Deceptive descritpion, does not explain that the main subject of this movie is homosexuality. I am not interested in the topic and would appreciate a more candid description.
