Kind of boring until Orson appears on the screen. Stockwell & Dillman play the Leopold & Loeb parts well and the direction has some artful scenes (i.e. each party of a conversation shown in the lens of a pair of glasses), but the overall effect is not chilling or even interesting. EG Marshall is good as the state's attorney and Martin Milner in a minor role of a cub newspaper reporter, kind of carries the interest until Welles shows up as defense attorney (Clarence Darrow in RL). Then the defense strategy used and his ultimate plea for mercy makeup the best parts of the film. Great final sequence between Welles & Stockwell.

If you're as well versed in the Leopold and Loeb case as I am you'll find nothing of note here. It's a fictionalized version of that famous case. Why they bothered to basically follow the storyline while not using actual names, I'm not sure. This movie also sanitizes the relationship between Leopold and Loeb because omg we couldn't outright say they were homosexually inclined in a movie decades ago, right? All in all, this movie is ok. Nothing more, nothing less.

"Compulsion" is based on a true story of a murder of a young man. The culprits feel they have pulled off the perfect crime. Dean Stockwell and Bradford Dillman play the killers. Orson Wells plays the defense attorney. They are all great in their parts and their is a wonderful supporting cast headed by E.G. Marshall and Diane Varsi. I suggest checking other web film reviews on IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes. Don't let my one review sway you. This is no ordinary movie. It tackles a tough subject and is wonderfully played out. In the end, I hope you will make your own evaluation by seeing the film. Side Note: In the real trial, the famous attorney Clarence Darrow is the defense lawyer.

This movie was terrible. “Dumb, Boring and Stupid” Waste of time - Waste of Electrical power.
It would be a waste of money to buy. "I fast forwarded all the way."
