Power-packed and gripping! Joanne Walker is inching her way to acceptance of her supernatural shamanic abilities, and this time there are witches involved, along with an ancient god ready to return from long exile.

Police procedural meets the Otherworld in this series, and it's pure sizzling magic. As a shamanic journeyer myself, I could relate to some of Joanne's struggles with acceptance of the More that lies just beyond the physical senses, and I loved soaking up her vivid experiences and wry commentary. Plus the action-packed storyline kepy me turning pages way past a sensible bedtime.... :-)

I find this series to be gripping. It just finds you, your centre of emotion as you relate to the insecurities and inability to accept her powers. Then suddenly, boom, you've read the whole thing because you couldn't put it down.

The main plot to this one severely lacks subtlety (although it works on the basis of the main characters inexperience, making it mostly believable that she wouldn't see the end result coming), and it still has the same dream walking, inner working and spirit world as the last one (which is not surprising given what the story is about, but not something I personally am partial to). That said, the characters are still very interesting, and it is was good enough that I'm looking forward to the third.
