Rated 7/10. I rated this series slightly less than season 4, as with the departure of DCI Gill Murray (Amelia Bullmore), the whole chemistry and make-up of the show has changed. She was definitely an integral part of what made this series good.

In addition, Bullmore wrote three of the episodes of the series, and I feel should have been given more of a profile in these series of shows. The Murray character was frequently an important part of the plots due to the decisions she made.

In my opinion, the show should have been called, Scott, Bailey, and Murray. To have three strong female leads in a series is unusual. With her gone, things fell apart. The relationship between Scott and Bailey changed, too.

Overall, though, the plot of the three episodes was quite good.

All things come to an end, I guess.

its been a wonderful time getting to know these two women, following along in their professional and personal lives, watching them grow together as well as apart, and learning from each other, all the time while solving crimes. Sadly , its time to go, BEFORE it gets routine..Thanks for the memories and see you in whatever it is you put your efforts into next.

This "season" very short and lacking in my opinion, mainly because of less interaction between the 2 female leads. Rachel is now head of squad, and takes her new loftier position a bit too seriously, perhaps. Still enjoy the way females are portrayed, but neither star seemed to have as much energy for their roles as previously. Or maybe I've just grown too accustomed to this series...

A good end to the series. The last two years were good, but the first three were outstanding. The difference between scripts written by Sally Wainright and scripts by someone trying to write like Sally Wainright.

Definitely not as good as previous series.

I have enjoyed this series. Sorry it has ended.

So sad this is the last series. 3 episodes only in series 5. Some of dynamics in squad room lost with the departure of characters after season 4. But still enjoyable as ever. If you like Suranne Jones, check her out in Dr. Foster...Mystery/thriller/drama.

After waiting a year to see this season, I was very disappointing at how short it was: 137 minutes total! Since so many people left the show, the writers kept throwing in random background on the new people at odd moments. The side story of the lost notebook at least gave a former bit player a central role. I enjoyed the story--and it really is only one story--but found there was too much going on with the upheavals, power struggles, new characters, Bailey becoming computer proficient just in time for her to discover the dark web, and sexting/sexual predator laws and teens, and all the things I can't mention because it would spoil the fun. (All in 137 minutes!)
