A completely original and surprisingly deep story, Artemis Fowl follows the title character in his obsession of discovering truths about the world, mainly that there is more to it than we realize. A boy genius with sometimes criminal tendencies and the good fortune to have been born immeasurably wealthy, Artemis also suffers from a complete lack of parental guidance. With a father gone missing, and a mother who's mind is not what it was, Artemis is free(?) to engage in any measures he deems necessary to achieve his goals. If you like action, adventure and unexpected elements of fantasy, you will love this series!

I LOVE THIS BOOK SERIES!!! I'm super excited to announce that the movie will be coming out in May 29 of 2020!!! It was supposed to come out in August but got postponed cause of legal stuff. In honor of my personal favorite book series I'm rereading the entire series. Also coming out in 2020 is "The Fowl twins" the sequel series. This great series is about a 12 year old boy genius and his devious escapades with the magical world of the fairies. Featuring humor, wit, snippy comments, and evil plots. This series is a must read!! mature 12+

The book Artemis Fowl by: Eoin(pronounced Owen) Colfer, follows the main character- Artemis Fowl, who is a child prodigy, and discovers the existence of magic and fairies. No, really. That’s what happens. He also kidnaps and ransoms one. I’m not lying. The entire premise of the book seems ridiculous when you explain it the way I do, but it is the only book that I’ve read so far that even tries to take such a ridiculous type of a plot, however, it’s done very well. The book does not sacrifice characters for plot, as the characters themselves are very interesting, each of them having their own unique personalities and quirks, and the book itself works well as both a standalone novel and the first book in the series. The book did seem fairly fast paced, but easily kept up with the pace, introducing more and more characters and ideas into the book, keeping the fast pace of the book going, and the overarching conflict interesting. Overall, the book is very interesting, with a seemingly ridiculous but interesting concept, and fast paced. The characters keep up with the plot, keeping the book well balanced. The main downside to the book is that by the time you reach the end, you wish it was still going. I would recommend this book to anybody who enjoys fantasy or science fiction. 4/5. @Xeno of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

The story didn't feel as solid this time around for Artemis. I really enjoy the crazy places the stories can go, but this one felt dragged out and the conclusion wasn't as satisfying as the prior books. There was also several typos throughout the book so lazy editing editor. All in all the book felt like the time paradox mentioned in the story, unnecessary and should have been avoided in the first place. I will be reading the next one with hope of improvement!!

I really enjoyed reading the first book and immediately went out to get the rest of the series from the library. The seventh book, called the Atlantis Complex, is by far my favorite. This series has made my top ten favorite book series list, I recommend it to all bookworms looking for a good time. Other series I would recommend are Keeper of the Lost Cities and Adventurers Wanted.

a fun book for oldish children (middle school?) and adults alike. adventure, high tech, fairies...with a tinge of melancholy (arch villains are not beget from happy childhoods spent with warm and loving families)

Violence: Some fighting good book though

Coarse Language: just a little bit of swearing, and some of it is in the language of the fairies.

Other: some intense crude humor. Parts of it I don't mind, but others.... it would be way better without that stuff.
