I listened to this book in the car with my family, Mom, Dad, and my 4 sisters. I enjoyed how methuselah is joking with Matthias and Constance at the dinner table. What challenged me was how Methuselah was always so kind and how he sacrificed his life to stop a thief, And how Matthias is always destroying evil. One of the lessons in this book is that you should never look for trouble. Another is you should listen to your elders. Another is that you should only defend not attack. The last lesson is make good friends and you can help people against any enemy from a horde of rats to a poisonous adder. This book can make you feel sad, happy, thrilled, terrified, and revengeful. The two last lessons are that you should try to be just and loving and the second one is that you may always hatch up a plan but it may not always be the best. I loved this book and hope you do too.

This was a very exciting book for my kids. I have 2 girls and I wasn't sure if they'd enjoy it because there is a lot of action, strategy, lore and mystery in this novel. It was a very well loved story filled with heroics by "boy" and "girl" characters!

One of the best books, series ever written. Enjoyable for all ages. I started the series at 38, and have read and listened to all that he wrote before he passed away. Brian Jacques was brilliant when it came to character creation, storyline building, and just enough humor and sadness to make you crave for more. He will be sorely missed.

My son was recommended to read this book in grade 3. I am very grateful to the teacher who made this suggestion as developed a strong love of reading from this series and enjoyed each book equally as they were released. They teach a lot of good values and are well written. He read these books (along with many others) at least up to the age of 12 or 13.

This book didn't really resonate with me. Certainly it's written for a younger audience, but I never felt myself become excited or anxious for the characters.

This was a very good book considering that it was the first book in this series. I liked all of the fighting parts and also all of the action packed parts in the book. Also I liked how brave Matthias was in helping deffend the city of Redwall. Cluny the Scourge is one of the most evil charaters out of all of these books from the Redwall series.

The voices that he does are cool but I prefer to imagine what they are in my head. But I am interested on what the sparrows, hares and moles will sound like (and the animals in the other books).
