This is a timeless work, completely applicable to everyone who has experienced the struggle between good and evil in his own soul. Augustine was raised by a devout Christian mother. He abandoned the Christianity in which he had been brought up, from his own account living a life of sin, including having an illegitimate son. After hearing the sermons of Ambrose, he went through great internal struggle that led to his conversion in 387.

I remember reading this fascinating book years ago, and I was looking forward to listening to it. He really loves his prepositional phrases ('of the x', 'for the x', 'in the x', etc.)! The reading, however was rather bad: the voice was too high pitched, too rough, the reading too fast, and with too little emphasis, especially in the first half of the book. Its certainly ripe for a re-recording.
