Alan Ladd was 35 years old and never looked more handsome as the hero who knows his best friend has turned into a criminal and it is up to him to bring him to heel. Not only is this his best friend from long ago but is also married to the girl that should have been Whispering Smith's wife only for the fact that Smith moved too slow and never asked her. What I liked about this western is the clear delineation between good and evil with evil losing out. Today's world in America embraces the counter-culture more than is good for anyone. Technicolor made for very good filming. All the characters here are clearly delinated. Good shall defeat evil but often it is a struggle. May God watch over all uf us.
