Story Explorers: In the Town All Year Round

It’s that time of year again when I’m getting the itch for cooler weather, cardigans, and boots. Though fall is not yet upon us, we should have cooler days coming up that are not so devastatingly hot and humid. Days where you and your kiddos can get outside and explore for hours on end and there’s no fear of crankiness due to heat (just remember to bring the snacks!). Before you head out on… (more)

this book is nearly perfect for vocabulary development and picture narration, without any words cluttering the pages

This is my almost two grandson’s favorite book at the moment. He loves to find things in the illustrations and there is so much to find. There is something new every time plus his old favorites. All his favorite things are included—trucks, diggers, trains, planes, animals, Christmas decorations and more—great book for word collectors. Cut-away pictures of homes, shops, a museum, a library, etc. Very European in its style. Plus I enjoy every reading myself and do not mind when I hear “again?” for the 10th time that day.

Great book with details

My three-year-old loves this book. Lots of little details to notice and follow, lots of little narratives to track. No words, which means we are free to create our own stories and observations.

The many characters appear and reappear in each season as they go about their lives. Each detailed scene is beautiful and packed with events to interest and delight.

This book is amazing! It has no words, but has so much for a little one to observe and connect pieces between scenes. Compared to other toddler picture books, this book has a "busy" look as there are so many characters in each scene and so many things happening at the same time. I was worried my 3-year-old may have difficulty grasping those details, but she showed great interest and could observe and remember those details at the second time we read it.

My kids LOVE this big book. It is rather large, comparatively speaking, and it's hardback so it's easy to look at with more than one child at a time. It has NO words. It simply tells a story thru the seasons of the year. It shows how one town and its ppl do different things w each season. It has TONS and tons to look at on each page. It is so much fun sitting on the floor and looking through all the book has to offer with your child(ren). I would say children from 3 or 4 yrs old thru 11-12 would enjoy this book. I hav kids of all different ages and they all really like looking at it. I am even going to buy my own copy for them they like it so much. We've already renewed it as many times as the library will allow :-)
