I can't even remember how I found out about this movie but I'm glad it wasn't as disappointing as the reviews led me to believe. In fact, I found it quite touching, to be honest. My personal preference would have been to focus only on the romance between Beverly and Peter instead of having the "side story" with Russell Crowe and his 'army" who were out to get Peter. The romance between Peter and Beverly seemed a bit rushed and we never really saw the moment they actually fell in love (or I missed it somehow), but once it got into it, it was absolutely beautiful. The climax of the movie would have had me in tears b/c it was so incredibly emotional, but the lead up to it was mentioned several times before so I already saw it coming. Still it was very emotional, although it's hard to write this review without giving anything away. The acting was really good and I was surprised to see cameos by Will Smith, Jennifer Connlely and Eva Marie Saint. When I finished the movie (which, as the synopsis suggests, does flip back and forth between past and present at some points), I re-watched the beginning and I was tempted to watch the whole thing again b/c some of the pieces started to fall into place. I didn't think it was a bad movie at all; just a little too much violence for me, but good acting and a bittersweet story. I might even watch this again in the future.

I also found this pointless and boring. Not worth watching.

Pointless. Dull to watch in spite of the attractive cast and scenes. The horse was the only redeeming character.

I am a fan of Colin Farrell but this movie did not live up to my expectations :(
I found it a bit boring, had a hard time believing that the two main characters were in love since that part progressed too quickly, I was confused by Will Smith's character, etc. I could go on about the disappointments. In my opinion it's not worth sitting through again.

I really love romantic movies!! But the problem is that not all the love stories easily enter my heart.. I think that the best romantic movies are the Indian ones. Anyway this love story is not that good to me, maybe because they make it in a fantasy way.. I don't know why but I didn't have any impulse to complete the movie. All the characters are boring, especially Peter Lake!! And I found it pretty weird what Beverley did when a thief entered her house.. she asked him if he wants a cup of tea!! I give this movie 4.5/10 and it is a PG 13 movie. - @rahmamawlood of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

This is a 2014 American supernatural fantasy directed by Akiva Goldsman, based on the 1983 novel of the same name by Mark Helprin.
The storyline is contrived in such a confusingly complicated way that the film seems to have ended in a profoundly mangled happiness---if NOT in a gratuitous happy ending.
The flying horse is not impressive at all and looks rather childish in a primitive computer animation.

So much of the book is left out that I don't think this movie makes sense if you haven't read the book. But if you have read the book, the movie is just a shadow of it. I enjoyed it but wish a better movie had been made of this wonderful book.

BEVERLY: When true love is can bleed of all meaning. We are left blank. But the possibility of destiny remains. What we are meant for may yet be discovered. And once in a very long while... that journey to find our destiny may defeat even time itself.
Pearly: I'll tell you something that should chill your blood. No matter how far we tip the scales our way... no matter how many of them we turn dark... nothing seems to break their capacity for hope. They pass it back and forth like the flu at a preschool fair.

What if we are all unique...and the universe loves us all equally? So much so that it bends over backwards across the centuries...for each and every one of us. And sometimes, we are just lucky enough to see it...No life is more important than another. And nothing has been without purpose. Nothing.
