Walking to Rivendell

We’re going on an adventure! This fall you’ll walk, swim, bike, run and move in any way you like to get yourself to Rivendell. We’ll start the same day Frodo did on his realm saving quest (9/23), then meander through Middle Earth until we reach Rivendell, 397 miles away (or choose your own goal) on the winter solstice (12/21). Average 4.5 miles of movement a day to reach Rivendell (or your own goal) and you’ll earn a custom patch plus you’ll be entered into some grand prize drawings!
For every mile you move, you'll enter 1 minute on Beanstack. Miles = minutes. You can log daily or weekly. As you log, you'll earn badges that correspond to well known locations on your way to Rivendell.

All ways to move count! If you want to track miles on a pedometer, smart watch or phone, you can add those to any walking/running/biking/swimming miles that you do. The goal is to be active and defeat the evil of Mordor!
A challenge wouldn't be complete without prizes! If you make it to your goal destination (Rivendell or another distance) you'll earn a custom Walking to Rivendell Patch.
You'll also earn digital tickets which you can put towards raffle drawings for prizes. You earn tickets for:
- finishing your goal (3)
- making it to Rivendell (1)
- making it to The Lonely Mountain (1)
- making it to Mount Doom (1)
- reading a Middle Earth Book (up to 3)
- watching a Middle Earth movie (up to 3)
