Lawrence Public Library

Description

TUE | May 13 | 6-7:30 PM| Auditorium

Knowing what is a reasonable accommodation, when they are covered, and who qualifies can be daunting for employees seeking accommodations and employers wanting to comply with best practices. Empower yourself and join us for a primer on employment rights and protections for workers under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Daniel Brown from Independence Inc. will lead the discussion, offering the ADA definitions of disability and reasonable accommodations and an overview of how and when to apply for accommodations. Jennifer Moore (Independence Inc.) will follow up with key details about the Working Healthy, WORK, and STEPS program for qualifying individuals. Abby Azeltine and Tyler Stoddard will conclude the program with assistive technologies demonstrations and information on equipment loan options to enhance workplace accessibility through the Assistive Technology Kansas (ATK) program.
