Quotations
- “Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it’s a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it’s a way of making contact with someone else’s imagination after a day that’s all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.” (pg. 52)“Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it’s a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it’s a way of making contact with someone else’s imagination after a day that’s all too real. - “The neck is a dead giveaway. Our faces are lies and our necks are the truth. You have to cut open a redwood tree to see how old it is, but you wouldn’t have to if it had a neck.” (pg. 5)

While the costumes, music, and characters are lovely, the mysteries and dialogue are just not worthy of the Fisher name. The first episode was quite promising, but I felt they got less interesting with each continuing mystery.

In the acknowledgements at the end of her book, Red, White & Royal Blue, Casey McQuiston writes, "What I hope to do, and what I hope I have done with this book by the time you've finished it, my dear reader, is to be a spark of joy and hope you needed." I found this installment to the Knitting in the City series as enjoyable as the first (Neanderthal Seeks Human). I adored Nico and his family as much as I enjoy reading about the female friendships in these stories. These can totally be read as standalones if a particular character's backstory interests you more (Elizabeth is a doctor and Nico is a comedian).I found this installment to the Knitting in the City series as enjoyable as the first (Neanderthal Seeks Human). Penny Reid is my new jam! This book was smart, sexy, and hilarious. Her nerd girl protagonist is both lovable and relatably flawed as is her love interest. Reid's writing is like new wave Helen Fielding and I can't wait to dive into the next book in this series.Penny Reid is my new jam! This book was smart, sexy, and hilarious. Super satisfying conclusion to this fabulous faerie trilogy. I love the complicated characters and magical world that Holly Black has created for this series and I am sorry to see them go.

This is the second installment of the Consortium Rebellion trilogy. While I thoroughly enjoyed the action and romance as much as I did in the first book, I found myself getting irritated with some editing issues. Plot points are repeated that don't need to be repeated... readers of this series are smarter than that. I still heartily recommend continuing the series if you loved Polaris Rising and I am very much looking forward to reading the conclusion in May 2020.This is the second installment of the Consortium Rebellion trilogy. Not my favorite Christian Lauren, but still fun. Made me yearn for a trip to Hawaii... maybe I was just too jealous of the characters to enjoy it.

This space opera adventure is an absolute gem. I loved it! Fast-paced action, intergalactic political intrigue combined with a touch of steamy romance makes this a perfect gateway for someone interested in trying Science Fiction or a breezy read for a seasoned enthusiast. While Mihalik offers some fantastic world-building, this book doesn't get weighed down by techno-jargon and begs you to read at lightning speed until reaching its satisfying conclusion and new beginning of The Consortium Rebellion series. This space opera adventure is an absolute gem. This is a lovely true story that is perfect to share with children and a gentle way to discuss war if so desired. Both the illustrations and animal going-to-war subject reminded me of "Winnie: The True Story of the Bear Who Inspired Winnie-the-Pooh" by Sally M. Walker. It's definitely worth a look if you love animal stories or enjoy reading bright spots during dark times. This is a lovely true story that is perfect to share with children and a gentle way to discuss war if so desired. Each page is deceptively simple but, as a whole, this lovely book is rather insightful on the subject of life. I would gift it to a friend. Read it when you need something easy but with substance to make you feel light again.

This marriage of convenience historical romance ticks all the right boxes and has great character development. The hero often calls the heroine "child" as an endearment which totally turned me off. If that doesn't bother you, it will be an absolute treat. This marriage of convenience historical romance ticks all the right boxes and has great character development. The final installment of the Bridgerton family series was certainly not the best and probably my least favorite of the 8 books. I had high hopes as I loved the penultimate story about the youngest Bridgerton, Hyacinth. This installment was just too unbelievable and the characters' chemistry a bit off. The final installment of the How to Train Your Dragon film series is a lovely conclusion to a wonderful coming of age story. I also love that it shows a hero who has a handicap but that is not the central part of the story nor is it his major obstacle to overcome. The final installment of the How to Train Your Dragon film series is a lovely conclusion to a wonderful coming of age story.
